Steve is a vastly experienced reporter, with facts at his fingertips and has a admirably dispassionate and clear writing style, free of the rather annoying hectoring tone that many adopt, especially when writing on Russia.
His latest post combines the best of his own blog with opinion from a perennial favourite of mine - Tom de Waal - about whom I have written previously. De Waal’s reporting on the Caucasus is always clear, balanced and informative.
